The Three Strand Cord

Ecclesiastes 4:12 "if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart." This blog is a forum for 3 of the Paris brothers to discuss stuff. Now for a limited time 0% interest, no $ down, low monthly payments of $325

What is wrong with people? Why are people so unwilling to commit to give $ on a monthly basis? They seem eager to give to one-time causes ala building fund or emergency needs etc. but seem hesitant to commit to be a regular monthly supporter. The commit to make monthly payments for a cell phone, a car payment, a mortgage, dish network etc. Why not for the LORD's work?

Todd,
This seems logical. However, 1. not everyone has all of those extras, 2. not everyone has extra income that they can direct to this project, 3. when we invest in the items that you mentioned, there is an immediate return on the investment, a tangible take-away from the money down. What are you offering? How can I see these funds accomplishing what they are designed for?

It sounds like you are very discouraged in the process. Maybe even bitter. Did you just have a meeting with your teammates?

Mike

I'm just frustrated because we just were able to raise $3000 dollars in 48 hours for a boy in Haiti that needed his leg amputated. And I can't even get the people that have committed to monthly giving to give. I made $130 for my salary this month. If I can't raise $1300 in the next two days then I can't go to South Africa as planned. I can't keep this up. I may have to leave the ministry and get a job. Why don't Gods people give? Why don't you have a decent salary. frustrated.

I understand the frustration. I FEEL keenly the frustration. I have been/am in the middle of the frustration. I know where you are man.

Getting a job is not the end of ministry of course. Maybe this period has set you up for another level further down the road. Maybe God will have you get another job where you can network with climbers better -- retail, ala EMS? Parks Service? Guiding? Full time climbing tower builds?

I know the pain. I know the disappointment. I'm with you.
Prating for you now,
Mike

Todd,
just got a form letter from American Missionary Fellowship. In this letter, which reminded me of you b/c of its climbing motif, the PS stood out and screamed "you must post me to Todd". So since I always listens to the voices in me 'ead:

"Nothing costs less, goes farther, or lasts longer than the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Still praying for you bro,
Mike

The Gospel is actually the most costly thing in the universe, but it is available for free because Christ paid the price already. It can not be far reaching without people taking it to the ends of the earth. That requires finances. The last part is accurate in that the Gospel is one of the things that is eternal along with the souls of men.

I am in the process of applying at an EMS for the winter.

Thanks for your prayers.
